Immobilize your knee with a pressure bandage

If your knee has been dislocated, there is a good chance that your doctor will advise you to wear a support bandage after your knee has been returned to the kneecap. Treating a knee with a compression bandage immobilizes the knee and reduces the chance of it dislocating again. A support bandage can also provide relief and prevent further possible complications in conditions such as venous insufficiency and less serious injuries, such as a swollen knee due to an injury. If you allow swelling to take its course, the blood flow to the swollen part of the body can deteriorate significantly. This can cause severe pain and, in the long term, even damage to muscles and nerves. Always contact a doctor if swelling does not reduce or if additional complaints arise.
