View full detailsAlginate is a hydrophilic polymer made from seaweed. The main component is alginic acid, a polysaccharide made up of mannuronic acid and guluronic acid
Sorbalgon consists of flexible calcium alginate fibers, which are converted into a non-adhesive gel upon contact with sodium salts, for example in blood and wound fluid. If the fibers swell during the transformation and fill the wound, close contact with the wound surface is created and a microclimate is created that is favorable for wound healing. During gel formation, the contaminated exudate is safely contained.
