A hydrogel is a complex network of polymer connections, within which a large amount of water is retained. The gel has the ability to absorb large amounts of moisture, making it very suitable for use in wound care. Hydrogel wound care benefits from the absorbency of the gel, as exudate is absorbed and stored in the hydrogel dressing or hydrogel pad. Wound fluid, dead tissue and harmful bacteria that have been absorbed by the gel can be removed immediately by replacing the bandage or plaster. By removing such waste products, the healing process of the injury is optimized.
