Digital blood pressure monitors can be distinguished in two variants, namely the wrist blood pressure monitor and the upper arm blood pressure monitor. The biggest difference between the two is, as the name suggests, the location of the body where blood pressure is measured. Another important difference is the accuracy of the measurement results. Both meters are in principle equally reliable, but the chance of movement with a wrist blood pressure monitor is greater than with a blood pressure monitor for the upper arm. This is mainly because the cuff must be at the level of the heart during the measurement. You will therefore have to lift your arm with a wrist blood pressure monitor, which means there is a chance that you will unintentionally move a little. With an upper arm blood pressure monitor you can simply let your arm hang along your body.
